Description
| The Branchburg Woman's Club's craft boutique has been our club's main fund-raiser for 17 years. The BWC's proceeds benefit a variety of community programs, services, and student awards. The club tries to make it a particularly pleasant way to sell one's crafts as the club members do all of the selling. This 3-day smorgasbord of crafts takes place each year in Branchburg's South Branch "Little Red" Schoolhouse, a quaint country schoolhouse built in the late 1800's. Popular with local crafters and patrons alike, the South Branch Schoolhouse provides a picturesque setting for relaxed craft and gift shopping just before the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Traditionally, this community fund-raiser features local artists' handmade crafts including a variety of competitively-priced home decor items, gift items, and toys. For the privilege of participating, crafters pay a fee of $25 plus 20% of crafts sold and sign a contract with the Branchburg Woman's Club plus fill out special inventory forms. Each craft item should have a secure string tag carefully labeled with an inventory item number, price, and the crafter’s initials. Crafters bring in their crafts and their completed inventory forms the day before the boutique starts. With the help of a club member, crafters check in (and check out) the inventoried crafts. As room permits, crafts are put on display by the club members and may be placed on tables in different areas of the 2 rooms. There aren't any booths or assigned tables. In effect, the crafters are not present during the 3 day boutique. Participating crafters then come back to the schoolhouse with the duplicate copy of the inventory sheet(s) on Monday morning (10/24) or Sunday evening to once again inventory what remains after the boutique is over and to take home the unsold items. Barring any unusual situation, checks for the items sold less the 20% are typically sent out to the crafters within about 2 weeks. |
