Description
The 34th Annual YMCA Christmas Gift Market will break with tradition this year and open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday instead of the traditional mid-week days according to new market director Evonne Kendle. “We’ll still be at the Chattanooga Convention Center,” she said, “but we feel that moving into the weekend will give more people an opportunity to enjoy the market.” The 2009 market will be held Nov. 19 and 20 from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.
Christmas Gift Market organizers are also dropping the ticket price this year. “In the past, we’ve offered an $8 ticket good for all three days of the market,” said Mrs. Kendle, “but few people had time to come back to the market over several days.” This year the ticket price will be $5 for a single day admission. Admission is still free for children age 12 and younger.
A number of vendors have already signed on for the 2009 market including some returning favorites. Mrs. Kendle noted, “The Christmas Market volunteers have gone the extra mile in attracting new vendors by seeking upscale shops and area artisans. We want to make the market a real convenience for shoppers by making it possible to do much of their Christmas shopping in one spot.”
All proceeds from the YMCA Christmas Gift Market fund programs for children and teens at the YMCA of Metropolitan Chattanooga. Last year’s focus for Christmas Market grants included a new fitness and nutrition curriculum for after school programs, Youth Leadership Chattanooga, Y-CAP (a early intervention program for at-risk teens) and scholarships for YMCA preschool programs.
Artisans and shop owners may reserve a booth by downloading a registration form. Booth rates for 2009 remain $350.00 each and participants may request a specific booth location. Assignments are made on a first come first serve basis. All applications should be submitted no later than October 22, 2009. The YMCA Christmas Gift Market features unique gifts, Christmas decorations, gourmet foods, and clothing. Holiday demonstrations will also be scheduled.

Common Rules Selected: Previous acceptance does not guarantee re-acceptance. Jury materials, slides or photos, will not be returned to you. Vendors can share a booth. No vendor may sell any soft drinks, name brand drinks, or bottled water. No Early Packup Allowed. Raffle / Door Prize Donation Required. Standard Rules: All work and displays must stay within designated space.
No boxes, extra merchandise or debris should be visible.
Spot area must be kept clean throughout the event and be left spotless afterwards.
No soliciting, approaching patrons, or distribution of advertising material outside of booth area.
All vendors must have a state sales tax license. Vendors are responsible for collecting and remitting all sales tax. |
