Description
Statehood Speakers Bureau presented by the Kansas Humanities Council
3:00 PM. Along with language and traditions, dance can help us understand the values, beliefs, hopes, and dreams of different peoples. The Haskell Powwow, Volga-German Wedding March, and Swedish Dance in Lindsborg are specific to Kansas yet have roots in North American and European culture that go back more than a thousand years. Through photographs, video, music, and demonstration, find out how these dances preserve cultural identity and adapt ancient traditions to contemporary times. Sponsored by the University Women's Club. |
