Description
Beppe Gambetta is a gifted acoustic guitarist and vocalist who demonstrates in both performances and recordings his broad range of expertise. His distinctive sound is a multi-cultural tapestry of traditional, original and classical music tunes and songs. Beppe's compositions and arrangements reflect a colorful mosaic of musical influences...from his native Italy to American flatpicking, Celtic, central European and Mediterranean dance tunes, classical fingerstyle and more.

From Genoa, Beppe began his career in a classical music orchestra. After gaining exposure to a wide variety of genres, he chose to focus his studies on the guitar playing styles of American traditional music, now the foundation of his unique approach to acoustic music.

Beppe's charm, engaging personality and remarkable versatility on acoustic guitar captivate audiences without exception. His talents have been enjoyed at major concert halls, prestigious international festivals and various workshops throughout Europe, the United States and Canada. His thorough mastery of acoustic guitar has resulted in his being acknowledged as Europe's premier guitar stylist. Besides his solo show Beppe performs in duo with Dan Crary, Carlo Aonzo (see presentation on this pages) or with his son Filippo Clarence, a young new master of progressive diatonic accordion in Europe.

The new album of Beppe Gambetta is Synergia "The Flatpicking Live Duo in Europe" with Dan Crary. After many decades from the last live flatpicking recording in duo by Doc and Merle Watson, Beppe and Dan create a strong impact of music and entertainment during the European Tour 2000.

In 2001 is also scheduled the release of the new CD by Beppe Gambetta, Carlo Aonzo and David Grisman on Acoustic Disc. The album will be an extraordinary collection of romantic and classical music from the Italian-American string virtuosi of the period of the great emigrations.

The album Serenata, is a magnificent panorama of music from turn-of-the-century Italy. This eloquent, unusual compilation showcases such classical and folk styles as mazurkas, tangos, serenades, boleros and czardas. These nearly-forgotten melodies and songs were revived after extensive research and feature Beppe with special guest Carlo Aonzo, a mandolinist with La Scala Orchestra, Milan, and winner of the 1997 Walnut Valley Festival Mandolin Championship, Winfield KS.

Good News From Home, is an outstanding representation of the breadth and depth of Beppe's talent and demonstrates his extraordinary insight into traditional folk forms, presented with highly creative, inspiring guitar work. He brings to us songs sung in Italian dialects, sensitive new compositions and traditional pieces from countries on both sides of the Atlantic. His earlier works can be heard on Dialogs, as well as on Alone and Together with banjo master Tony Trischka.
