Description
This fall and winter, shop the Farmers Market indoors on Sundays beginning November 6th from 10:00am – 2:00pm at the VFW Post #5188 located at 108 Robbins Road (off Rt. 27; next door to the Johnson Middle School). The Farmers Market will be held twice a month from November through April.
Enjoy the opportunity to shop directly from farmers, food purveyors, and crafters for a wide variety of fresh and prepared foods, arts & crafts. Offerings on hand include fruits and vegetables, artisan baked goods, pastas, cheeses, prepared foods, honey, loose-leaf teas, dog cookies, scarves, jewelry, soap, candles and much much more!

Event/Application Rules & Regulations
Market Rules
1. Market Location: Town Common at the Intersection of Main and Front Streets
2. Market Dates: Wednesdays from June 15th to October 26th
3. Market Hours (Rain or Shine): 2pm to 6:30pm
I. Terms and Conditions of Sales
1. All persons desiring to sell items at the Market will submit a completed Walpole Farmers’ Market Application/Inventory List (“Application”) on a form provided by the Market and each person must sign a statement indicating that they have read, understand, and agree to abide by the rules of the Market.
2. All persons submitting an Application must provide an Inventory List of items to be sold at the Market (“List”). The submitted List will be examined at the time of application review and an approved List will be issued by the Market Manager. Persons approved to sell at the Market (Vendors) may only sell items from their List.
3. In the event that a Vendor would like to modify his/her List, an amended inventory list must be submitted to the Market Manager for approval. New items identified on the amended inventory list may not be sold prior to the market manager’s approval.
4. Only the following, Massachusetts-grown or produced items that meet all applicable federal, state and local rules and regulations and approved by the Market Manager may be offered for sale:
A. Fresh fruits
B. Fresh vegetables and herbs
C. Plants and flowers
D. Honey and maple syrup
E. Fresh cider
F. Dairy products
G. Poultry and meat products
I. Baked goods in which the majority of the ingredients are produced by the Vendor.
J. Specialty food products produced in New England
K. Other
5. Farmer grown and produced shall mean the following:
A. Pertaining to all the items mentioned in Paragraph 4 above, all pruning, spraying, fertilizing, and harvesting is undertaken by the farmer, members of the farmer’s household or persons directly employed and paid by the farmer. This may include items grown on land under written lease or license, provided that the farmer who leased or licensed the land undertakes all of the above activities.
B. Any farmer intending to sell products grown on leased or licensed land must furnish a copy of the lease or license agreement to the Market Manager at the time of submitting his/her List.
6. All items offered for sale at the Market must be first quality, unless they are expressly posted as “seconds”.
7. Only products certified by Baystate Organic Certifiers as organic may be labeled “organic”.
8. All processed foods should comply with the requirements set forth by federal, state and local laws, regulations and rules.
9. Items may be sold by the pound, bunch, piece, or measured container.
10. Scales utilized at farmers’ markets must be inspected and sealed annually by the Sealer of Weights and Measures.
11. Vendors are urged carry insurance to cover the extent of their operations and liabilities.
12. Vendors are required to comply with all federal state and/or local laws and regulations.

II. Prices and Signs
1. Prices for all items for sale shall be posted clearly on a sign. No item shall be sold unless the price of the item is clearly displayed or on a price tag on the item.
2. Prices for items shall be established only by individual Vendors.
3. Collusion among Vendors to raise or lower prices, or to exert pressure or persuasion to cause any Vendor to increase or decrease selling prices is prohibited.
4. Each Vendor must post the name and location of his/her farm or business at his/her assigned selling area in the Market.
III. Daily Operation
1. If a Vendor cannot attend the market, the Market Manager must be notified at least 48 hours, if possible, in advance via telephone at (508) 395-6681.
2. Selling at the market shall begin promptly at 2 PM, and no selling may take place before this time.
3. Vendors shall arrive no earlier than 1 PM to set up displays.
4. Vendors must agree to sell for the entire market day.
5. Vendors must vacate the selling area no later than 7:30 PM and all clean-up must be completed.
6. No Vendor shall engage in solicitation, collection drives, political or religious activities in the market. No loud hawking of items is allowed.
7. Vendors must keep the vicinity in and around their selling area clean at all times and remove all refuse and unsold items at the end of each Market day.
8. Vendors must provide an approved trash receptacle when selling ready-to-eat items.
9. Vendors must be courteous to other Vendors and to the public at all times. Vendors and their agents, employees and representatives must maintain a neat and clean personal appearance at all times.
10. No Vendor shall smoke tobacco, drink alcohol and/or posses or use any controlled substance while at the Market.
IV. Other Market Policies
1. Bartering. While the trading of goods is common among market vendors, and that it “creates an amazing sense of family,” one must remember to keep it honorable, keep it clean and keep it fair. Honesty is the most important value of trade. And without it, healthy commerce is impossible. The selling of bartered goods is prohibited.
2. Discrimination. Members of The Farmers Market, Market employees and volunteers, and other persons selling at the Market or participating in Market functions, whether dealing with customers of the Market or with other Market members, shall not discriminate against any individual in regard to selling of products, hiring, promotion, discipline, or other matters because of age, sex, race, creed, color, national origin, sexual orientation, or the presence of any physical, mental, or sensory disability.
3. Sexual Harassment. Sexual harassment is a practice that violates federal equal employment opportunity laws, and violates the principles of the Walpole Farmers Market. Therefore: It is the policy of the Walpole Farmers Market to comply with the spirit and intent of federal equal employment opportunity laws and rules. Vendors and staff will be afforded a work environment free from sexual harassment. All vendors and staff shall project the necessary attitudes and behavior to ensure that sexual harassment does not occur. Vendors observing or having knowledge of incidents or practices within the Market which are harassment as defined in this policy shall report their observations to the Manager. The Farmers Market will not tolerate instances where a vendor or staff is retaliated upon in any way for

complaining of sexual harassment. Confidentiality will be maintained whenever possible. Violators of this policy shall be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with Farmers Market policy.
The following acts are considered sexual harassment:
• Promise of employment or continued employment made implicitly or explicitly predicated on sexual activity as a condition for employment.
• Implicit or explicit coercive sexual behaviors to control, influence, or affect any employee, contractor, customer, potential customer, or vendor.
• Deliberate or unsolicited verbal comments, gestures, or physical contacts of a sexual nature which are unwelcome or interfere with work performance or create an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment.
Sexual harassment exists when the behavior is repeated or unsolicited and is unwelcome.
V. Grievances
1. In the event of a dispute regarding any aspect of the Market, the Market Manager shall make a decision. Any failure to abide by the Market Manager’s decision may be sufficient grounds for excluding the Vendor from the Market.
2. A Vendor may file an appeal from the Market Manager’s decision, in writing by certified mail, to a committee made up of officials, Vendors, sponsors, community groups or like entities of the market and established by the Market (“Grievance Committee”). Any appeal must be filed within ten (10) days of a decision.
3. Upon receipt of an appeal, the matter will be reviewed expeditiously.
4. If the Market does not establish a Grievance Committee, it shall make arrangements with the Massachusetts Office of Dispute Resolutions or a similar organization to process complaints.
5. The Grievance Committee will take no more than ten (10) days from receipt of the appeal to make its decision. During this time, the Vendor must adhere to the original decision of the Market Manager with no right to restitution for any losses.
Common Rules Selected: Previous acceptance does not guarantee re-acceptance. Jury materials, slides or photos, will not be returned to you. Vendors can share a booth. Vendors do not have to signup for all event dates. Spots are assigned prior to show based by promoter. Held Rain or Shine! ALL product categories must be itemized on the application. No vendor may sell any soft drinks, name brand drinks, or bottled water. No streamer poppers, snaps, silly string, stink bombs or other similar items may be sold! No pop guns, marshmellow guns or other disruptive items may be sold. Trash must be removed from event premises. No receptacles provided. No Gas Generators. Vehicle must be parked in designated areas. Standard Rules: All work and displays must stay within designated space.
No boxes, extra merchandise or debris should be visible.
Spot area must be kept clean throughout the event and be left spotless afterwards.
No soliciting, approaching patrons, or distribution of advertising material outside of booth area.
All vendors must have a state sales tax license. Vendors are responsible for collecting and remitting all sales tax. |

Driving Directions From 95 North: Take Exit 9 and take Rt. 1 North. Take a left at first set of lights onto Rt. 27. Follow Rt. 27 into Walpole Center. Cross over Main Street (Route 1A) and follow the roadway as it curves around. At the stop sign, make a right to continue on Rt. 27 and go under the train overpass. Once you pass the commuter rail station parking, take your first right onto Robbins Road. The VFW Hall will be the second building on the left, just beyond the Johnson Middle School.
From 95 South: Take Exit 10 and go left at the first light onto Rt. 1 South. Take right at first set of lights onto Rt. 27. Follow 27 into Walpole Center. Cross over Main Street (Route 1A) and follow the roadway as it curves around. At the stop sign, make a right to continue on Rt. 27 and go under the train overpass. Once you pass the commuter rail station parking, take your first right onto Robbins Road. The VFW Hall will be the second building on the left, just beyond the Johnson Middle School.
From Medfield: Take Rt. 27 South towards Walpole Center. Continue on Rt. 27 for approximately 3.9 miles. Take a left onto Robbins Road (Liebherr Yellow Business sign will be on your right). The VFW Hall will be the second building on the left, just beyond the Johnson Middle School.
From Norwood: Take Rt. 1A into Walpole Center. At your 3rd set of lights (The Raven’s Nest will be on your left), make a right onto Elm Street. Follow Elm and go under the train overpass. Just beyond the commuter rail station parking, take your first right onto Robbins Road. The VFW Hall will be the second building on the left, just beyond the Johnson Middle School.
From Norfolk/Wrentham: Take Rt. 1A into Walpole Center. Pass Becketts Pub on your left and at the first traffic light, make a left onto Elm Street. Follow Elm and go under the train overpass. Just beyond the commuter rail station parking, take your first right onto Robbins Road. The VFW Hall will be the second building on the left, just beyond the Johnson Middle School.
