Description
The Riverfront Art Festival celebrates its fifth anniversary this year. It features a picturesque setting, winding along the west bank of the Scioto River in downtown Columbus. The location is nearly synonymous with festival-going, in a city ranked by American Style Magazine as one of the top 10 big cities for art. While the heartbeat of the festival is its amazing selection of visual artists, the location is also home to a waterfront amphitheater, which plays host to a free performance by Opera Columbus, the season finale of Waterfire, and jazz over the course of the weekend - which helps to bring in the show's large crowds of well-heeled patrons. The show features abundant parking, free electricity, a stunning view of the city, and free bottled water for artists, along with the artist friendly nature and ease of interaction for which By Hand has earned its reputation. We hope to have the opportunity to host you among the 150 artists presented at this year's Riverfront Art Festival.


Event/Application Rules & Regulations
EXXHIBITOR ELIGIBILITY:
Applicants must create 100% of the work to be displayed and sold. No commercial kits, molds, hand painted commercial items, factory made or imported work of any type will be allowed. Artists must be present throughout the entire festival. Representatives may not participate in place of the artist. IDs will be checked on site. Collaborating artists may show only their joint work if sharing a booth. Exhibitors may only exhibit work in the category (or categories) for which the jury accepted them. If your work spans multiple categories you must apply in each category separately.

REPRODUCTIONS:
Reproductions must be clearly marked, and the word reproduction must appear on each piece. No other word may appear as a substitute for reproduction. Reproductions must be in limited editions of no more than 750 and be numbered and hand signed by the artist. No more than 40% of the artist's booth may be made up of reproductions. Hand colored reproductions may not be sold as original works and must follow the reproductions policy. Photography and Digital Art are not considered to be reproductions, but are still required to be signed and numbered in editions of no more than 750.

IMAGES:
You must submit 5 jpeg images, four of your work and one of your booth. Images must accurately reflect the work you will bring to the show. Artists whose images do not match their work or reflect its full scope may be ejected from the show at the discretion of the director. Images submitted may be used for promotional purposes at the discretion of By Hand.

JURY:
Your images will be projected simultaneously for review by a professional jury of outstanding working artists and promoters. The top scorers in each medium will be accepted, with limits placed by category to facilitate a balanced show. Up to 20% of available spaces may be filled at the discretion of the promoter based on exceptional quality.

FEES AND DATES:
The application fee is $25. All digital applications are due by May 7, 2010. Exhibitors will be juried and notified of results by June 1. Contracts and fees are due by July 15, 2010.

FEES:
Columbus booth fees are 10x10-$299,10x15-$439, and 10x20-$579.
Corners are an additional $100.

AWARDS:
Three awards will be given based on artistic merit by an on-site judge. Winners will receive an automatic invitation to return to all By Hand festivals for one full year, and a free booth at the show where the award was won.

DISPLAYS:
Artist are required to bring their own displays, tents, weights or stakes for anchoring, and heavy duty extension cables. Electricity will be available on site. Tents, tables, chairs, etc. may be rented from a contracted decorating company. We will provide details upon your acceptance.
Common Rules Selected: Previous acceptance does not guarantee re-acceptance. Include a Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with enough postage for the jury materials you are sending to be returned to you. Send 1 SASE - Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with standard postage. Spots are assigned prior to show based by promoter. Conditional Partial or Full Refunds by conditions such as date and whether your space is resold. Held Rain or Shine! Overnight Security Provided. ALL product categories must be itemized on the application. No vendor may sell any soft drinks, name brand drinks, or bottled water. No streamer poppers, snaps, silly string, stink bombs or other similar items may be sold! No pop guns, marshmellow guns or other disruptive items may be sold. Trash must be removed from your space to provided receptacles. No Gas Generators. Additional Lighting Recommended (bring lights and cords). White Canopies Only. Canopies must be weighted down, no stakes allowed in ground. Pets OK! No Early Packup Allowed. Floor Length Table Cloth Required. Send 1 SASE - Self Addressed Stamped Envelope with standard postage. Food Service will take orders from and deliver to vendor booths. Event Helping Hands will come around/be available to relieve you for short periods. NO Setup until vehicle fully unloaded and moved. Vehicles can not be brought near stand for un/loading. Vehicle must be parked in designated areas. Standard Rules: All work and displays must stay within designated space. No boxes, extra merchandise or debris should be visible. Spot area must be kept clean throughout the event and be left spotless afterwards. No soliciting, approaching patrons, or distribution of advertising material outside of booth area. All vendors must have a state sales tax license. Vendors are responsible for collecting and remitting all sales tax.

A multiple-person panel jury thoroughly reviews slides or photos and display.
All items must be entirely hand-made, no Embellishments only.
All items must be entirely hand-made by the artist alone.
All items must be Fine Craft or Art.
Limited number of Artists per category.
Artist must be present day of show.
Floor length table cloths required.
Backdrop required.
Booth Curtains Required ( Back and Both Sidewalls ).
Booth Business Sign Required.
No inventory boxes in view.
All product types to be sold must be listed on application.
Pre-show inspection of items and booths will be performed.
Vendors with items violating contract terms WILL BE asked to remove them.
Exhibitors must wear name badges.
