Description
In 1839, 53 free Africans were captured by Spanish slave traders.  They were transported to Cuba.  During the voyage, they escaped and attempted to return home.  They landed in the US and began a historic legal struggle to earn their freedom and return to Africa.  The case reached the US Supreme Court.  The name of the slave ship was Amistad.
