2008 marks the 26th year of this well-known show, the proceeds of which support restoration, preservation, and education programs at Trimborn Farm. Operated by the Milwaukee County Historical Society, Trimborn is a Civil War-era historic site boasting nine structures in their original locations, including four lime kilns, a Cream City brick farmhouse, and one of the largest stone barns in Wisconsin. Trimborn is also adjacent to the Jeremiah Curtin House, an 1840s Irish immigrant stone cottage. The Arts and Craft Show features booths throughout the grounds and inside the historic buildings, and offers the area's best representation of arts and crafts. Exhibitors are encouraged to donate one item to the Main Tent Raffle. There will be food vendors, a live entertainment, childrens' activities area, and spouse waiting area.
Advertising Done for This Event
Advertisements and event rack cards are placed in the local metropolitan media (including Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, CNI newspapers, television and radio), online listings, craft directories, local businesses, public venues, and more. Postcards are provided to exhibitors to take to shows or mail to customers; in 2007 the postcards provide a reduced admission fee to the show.
Event/Application Rules & Regulations
Participation is open to those who exhibit fine art and fine crafts of original conept that they have executed. Use of commercial kits, prefabricated forms, molds, stencils or purchased products is not acceptable. All exhibited work must be represented in slides or photos. Artists may not share a booth space except where there is collaboration in the work shown. Demonstrations are encouraged. The committee reserves the right to refuse an artist's work if it does not represent the slides or photos submitted for jurying, or who in other ways fails to comply with State requirements. The committee will ask such work to be removed from display. Common Rules Selected:
Previous acceptance does not guarantee re-acceptance. Jury materials will be returned to you. Spots are assigned prior to show based by promoter. No Refunds or Show Credits. Held Rain or Shine! Overnight Security Provided. No vendor may sell any soft drinks, name brand drinks, or bottled water. No streamer poppers, snaps, silly string, stink bombs or other similar items may be sold! No pop guns, marshmellow guns or other disruptive items may be sold. Trash must be removed from your space to provided receptacles. No Gas Generators. Additional Lighting Recommended (bring lights and cords). No Early Packup Allowed. NO Setup until vehicle fully unloaded and moved. Vehicle must be parked in designated areas. Standard Rules:
All work and displays must stay within designated space.
No boxes, extra merchandise or debris should be visible.
Spot area must be kept clean throughout the event and be left spotless afterwards.
No soliciting, approaching patrons, or distribution of advertising material outside of booth area.
All vendors must have a state sales tax license. Vendors are responsible for collecting and remitting all sales tax.
Event Quality Level Determining Flags:
A multiple-person panel jury thoroughly reviews slides or photos and display.
All items must be mostly hand made, no minor Embellishments only.
All items must be Fine Craft or Art.
Limited number of Artists per category.
No plain, flat table displays. Tiers, levels, or shelves required on them.
All product types to be sold must be listed on application.
