These Vases are hand-crafted following pre-hispanic cultures (Vicus and Tallan) techniques that date back before the Incas(more than 2,000 years ago). The artisan uses the "in Negative" or reverse tecnique for color decoration and the Palette technique for molding the vase. Each vase is molded by hand and the baking process is carried in several stages. Smoke from wood and mango leaves creates a black color on the piece except on the areas that have been previously covered. Once the pieces have been fired, they are polished by rubbing them with a fine stone giving them a matte to semi-gloss finish. Each piece is unique.
